20-40% pay hike for therapists and pediatricians in institutions under Ministry of Health
ArmInfo.Primary care medical workers (outpatient clinics) used to receive a fixed salary regardless of the number of visits and volume of services provided; however, today their salaries are calculated differently. Armenian Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan made this statement in an interview with Civilnet.
According to her, the state already pays medical workers compensation based on the services they provide to patients - for consultations, examinations, and treatment. Avanesyan noted that wages have increased in the healthcare system. Specifically, she presented data on approximately 60 medical institutions under the Ministry's jurisdiction, where the salaries of family physicians-internists and pediatricians-have increased by 20-40%. Meanwhile, for several specialized specialists, their incomes have increased two- to threefold. The minister reported that medical workers had already received increased salaries calculated under the new system in March.
Avanesyan did not rule out the possibility of individual local issues, noting that regional medical centers need to revise the calculation format. Furthermore, she stated that the salaries of approximately 70 medical workers with expertise in two or three areas haven't been adjusted.
