Pauls Stuns Thompson To Win IBF International Middleweight Title
Brad Pauls knew he was brought in to be the “B-Side” against undefeated Shakiel Thompson in a bout for the IBF International middleweight title. Only he didn’t read the script. Hopelessly behind on points, Paul caught the towering Thompson (6’3″ to Paul’s 5’10”) with a booming right hand, hurting him in the ninth. A followup dropped Thompson who rose on shaky legs. Another barrage dropped Thompson again, this time with referee Howard Foster waving it off at 1:30 of round nine, crowning Pauls the unlikely IBF International champion, as he improves to 21-2-1, 12 KOs. Thompson loses for the first time at 15-1, 11 KOs.
