Hyundai Boulder Concept Breaks Cover – Wild Off Roader With Big Plans Ahead
Hyundai has taken a very different step this time with a bold new concept that surely stands apart from its usual lineup. The new Hyundai Boulder Concept shows a strong focus on tough driving and outdoor use, something the brand has not explored much in recent years.
This concept was showcased at the New York International Auto Show and it gives a clear idea of what Hyundai is planning next for bigger and more rugged vehicles.
One big change is the base of the vehicle. Hyundai is working on a ladder frame platform, which is very different from its usual cars. This type of setup is stronger and used in proper off road SUVs.
The Boulder concept also hints at a future pickup truck and SUV for the US market.

Inside the cabin
The cabin feels very different from typical modern SUVs. Instead of a big single screen setup, this one goes for a more functional layout with multiple small displays and physical controls.

Future plans
Hyundai has also shared its future plans with this concept. This platform will first be used for a pickup around 2030, and later an SUV will follow.
Production and development will be handled entirely in the US. This will help Hyundai compete more strongly with models like Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger and Chevrolet Colorado.
For now, this concept will not go into production, but it clearly shows the direction Hyundai wants to take. Hyundai is also working on a separate off road focused SUV for India by 2030.
