Hyundai Staria Electric Revealed: 400km Range, 20-Min Fast Charging and Space Like a Lounge
Hyundai has taken a huge leap forward with the debut of the Staria Electric, its largest electric vehicle to date. Known worldwide for its futuristic appearance and space-oriented design, the Staria now joins the electric space with a clear focus on comfort, practicality and long-distance usability. The electric version has been unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show and is confirmed to be sold in Europe and Korea in the first half of 2026.
At the core of the Staria Electric is an 84kWh lithium ion battery. It powers a front mounted electric motor of 219hp and 350Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels and Hyundai claim a driving range of up to 400km on a full charge. The MPV can clock up to 183kmph top speed, and also has the ability to tow a load of up to 2,000kg, which is notable for an electric people mover of this size.
One of the biggest highlights is its 800V electrical architecture. Despite the fact that it is based on a platform which initially supported combustion engines, Hyundai has been able to incorporate high voltage charging technology. This enables the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 20 minutes with a DC fast charger. For charging at home or the workplace, an 11kW AC charger is also available.
In terms of design, the Staria Electric remains very close to the standard Staria. It maintains the tall, clean silhouette, wide glass area, wraparound LED light bar and sliding doors. Small EV-specific modifications include a redesigned front bumper, a closed-off grille, and a charging port mounted on the front of the vehicle for easier access. The MPV measures 5,255mm in length and 1,990mm in height, so it has a powerful road presence.
The focus inside the SUV is clearly on usable space. The flat floor and high roof allow easy movement in rows. The dashboard features two 12.3-inch screens for the digital cluster and infotainment system, powered by Hyundai’s latest connected software with OTA updates. Physical buttons are still present for commonly used controls which should be appreciated by many users.
Hyundai is going to provide two seating layouts. The seven-seat Luxury version has 435 litres of boot space and the nine-seat Wagon version has flexible seating and 1,303 litres of luggage space.
The Staria Electric is meant for large families, airport shuttles, and fleet use. While there is no confirmation for India yet, it clearly shows how Hyundai sees the future of large electric people movers.
