Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin continues to fulfill its mission - Armenian Apostolic Church Information Department Head
ArmInfo. The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin continues to fulfill its mission, as stated by Priest Yesayi Artenyan, Head of the Information Department of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, in a conversation with reporters, following the recent attempt by the authorities, with the involvement of bishops aligned with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's anti-church stance, to demand the resignation of Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II.
He noted that the events of yesterday events demonstrated the position of the Armenian people. "What happened yesterday at the Mother See is sad. However, the Armenian people remain close to the Church, adhering to their spiritual convictions. The Armenian Apostolic Church is an important asset and spiritual structure for our people, which must be protected. And this should be done through prayer and steadfast loyalty to the Armenian Church, rather than through shouting," the head of the Information Department noted.
Priest Artenyan also disclosed the names of those who have been excluded from the Supreme Spiritual Council, including Archbishop Abraham Mkrtchyan, Primate of the Vayots Dzor Diocese; Bishop Gevorg Saroyan, Primate of the Masiatsotn Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church; and Bishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of the Baltic States (who have joined Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's anti-church campaign - ed.).
He added that the Mother See of Etchmiadzin operates in accordance with church canons and will continue to make its statements within their framework, thereby ensuring the continuity of its mission.
