My Name Is Khan to A Beautiful Mind and Joker; Top 10 powerful films that tackle mental health and psychological struggles
Last month, Ranveer Allahbadia and Apoorva Mukhija landed in controversy after their appearance on India's Got Lalent. On Samay Raina's show, their jokes received severe backlash and complaints were filed against them. The National Commission for Women (NCW) recently questioned the duo for several hours. The YouTuber and the influencer have apologised for their statements.
As reported by PTI, NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar told the media on Friday that such inappropriate language will not be acceptable. Vijaya told the press, "Four people appeared before the commission Tushar Poojari, Saurabh Bothra, Apoorva Mukhija and Ranveer Allahbadia. The commission will not accept the use of inappropriate language. Such remarks are simply not acceptable."
The NCW chairperson added, "Keeping the social impact in mind, they were issued notices. They came before the commission and expressed deep regret. They said they should not have spoken in such a manner and have now submitted a 'maafinama' (written apology)."
The official further mentioned that Ranveer Allahbadia told them this is the first and the last time such a mistake has happened from him. "From now on, I will think carefully and speak with respect toward women," Ranveer allegedly told the panel. Furthermore, the YouTuber has been granted permission by the Supreme Court to resume his podcast 'The Ranveer Show.'.
On the other hand, all the episodes of Samay Raina's India's Got Latent have been deleted. After the controversy, a lot of celebrities bashed them for the content on their show and the remarks made by them. However, some even came out in support of Ranveer and Samay and questioned the importance given to this issue over the heinous crimes that happen against women every day.
